Paul Stein’s Solo Workshop at the VS Theatre is Magic!

This past Tuesday, I had the great pleasure of enjoying an awesome night of powerful solo performances that were born out of a workshop led by Paul Stein. This was all from the VS Theater which meetings every Tuesday night and has been continuing to do so on Zoom during these pandemic times. The pieces were revelatory and intimate – striking a chord with the fierce heart and the funny bone. Heads up because they’re going to do it again in the coming months. Paul Stein
 has directed and produced
world premiere plays, site-specific events and solo performance in Theaters and Festivals across the United States, Canada and Europe.  Paul’s staging of Leonard Nimoy’s “Vincent” starring Jean-Michel Richaud has played at Symphony Space in New York City, Cine’ 13 in Paris, France and for UCLA’s Center of the Performance Arts.  He directed W. Kamau Bell’s “The Bell Curve: Ending Racism in About an Hour” at P.S. 122 in New York and theaters across the U.S. eventually becoming a half-hour comedic talk show “Totally Biased” for FX Network.  He has collaborated with bilingual storyteller Antonio Sacre on five solo shows, winning festival awards in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.
 
Formerly the Executive Producer of the Comedy Central Stage, a talent development venue for Comedy Central and Viacom, he produced presentations and worked with such noted comedians as Russell Brand, Nikki Glaser, Marc Maron, Randall Park, Jill Soloway, Sarah Silverman, Daniel Tosh, Reggie Watts and Kristina Wong, to name a few.  He is the creator and Artistic Producer of The Car Plays, leading multiple productions at the La Jolla Playhouse, Segerstrom Center and REDCAT.
